Forum of Australian Chief Scientists held in Darwin

The Australian Chief Scientist, Dr Alan Finkel, and state chief scientists from across the country, met at Parliament House in Darwin for the Forum of Australian Chief Scientists on Tuesday 9 April. International guests included Prof. Juliet Gerrard, New Zealand Government's Prime Minister's Chief Science Advisor and Prof. Teatulohi (Lohi) Matainaho, Papua New Guinea Government's Chief Scientist. Issues discussed at the forum included Australia's academic performance, science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM), the Australian Space Agency, energy transition and hydrogen industry.

Also present at the forum were representatives of Charles Darwin University, the Northern Territory Department of Education, the Australian Government, Engineers Australia, Founder of Equatorial Launch Australia, Taminmin College, Lutheran schools and Catholic schools.

The Forum of Australian Chief Scientists contributes to the development of national science policy, and its members represent Australian science internationally.
