YEA Northern 2021 Drone Challenge

In weeks one to four of term 4, young engineers will be attending schools to conduct heats for the 2021 Drone Challenge, involving hands on racing and skills handling drone activities.

Drones are the result of engineering brilliance and will play a big part in future engineering. Drone technology can be used to simplify tasks related to:

  • infrastructure inspections
  • construction of roadways and forest roads
  • monitoring gas and oil pipelines and high tension electricity lines.

The final will be held on the 5 November 2021 at the STEM Fair.

The STEM Fair will have:

  • presentations on drone use in engineering, development, and regulations
  • the Ultimate Drone Challenge Final
  • virtual reality experiences
  • other flight-based challenges and prizes to be won.

The conference is the major event for Australia’s livestock export industry as a joint venture between the Australian Livestock Export Corporation (LiveCorp) and the Australian Livestock Exporters’ Council (ALEC).

The theme for 2021 is From here to there together: strengthening our foundations and creating connections.

Discussions will be centred on the capabilities of the industry, the strength of our markets, and the values shared by everyone in the supply chain, from Australian producers to the families being fed with quality Australian meat overseas.

The theme is also recognition of how the past has shaped the present, and a chance to talk about where we want the industry to go in the next ten years, given it’s a decade since the introduction of regulation effectively making exporters responsible for animal welfare in destination markets.
