Biosecurity protects Australian livelihoods and is vital to strengthening and supporting our environment and economy, including tourism, trade and agriculture. It underpins many aspects of our way of life.
The Biosecurity Innovation Program invests in the identification, development and implementation of innovative technologies and approaches to enhance the capacity of our national biosecurity system. The program funds projects that that foster collaboration with Australian and international innovators from the business sector, universities, start-ups and research entities.
The program will help Australia maintain our favourable pest and disease status, and our access to export markets.
The Biosecurity Innovation Program will provide funding and support for projects focusing on five key focus areas:
- communication and collaboration
- risk analysis
- surveillance, diagnostics and screening
- data and intelligence
- automation.
With the vast distances and areas to be covered, drones are an ideal platform for bio-security applications, and represent a promising proposition for bio-security innovation in the Territory.
You can find more information and submit expressions of interest in the 2022/23 program through the Biosecurity Innovation Program website until 3 December 2021.
