During Reconciliation Week 2024, Impact North proudly hosted Impact at the Grassroots, a series of meaningful conversations aimed at fostering connection, sharing experiences, and yarning about the unique challenges faced by remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander entrepreneurs when engaging with funders, partners, and the broader business community.
These conversations provided a vital platform for Aboriginal voices to be heard and for their experiences to be shared. Among the key events was the Deep Sharing session held on Tuesday 28 May, which offered an open and supportive environment for participants to delve into their personal journeys. This was followed by a private round-table discussion on Wednesday 29 May, with the Northern Territory Government’s Business Innovation team, where the insights gained from these conversations were further explored.
The culmination of these discussions has been captured in a report that reflects the lived experiences of a small group of Aboriginal people who have participated in Enterprise Learning Projects’ programs. It is crucial to recognise that while these perspectives are deeply personal and valuable, they do not represent the views of all Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander communities. Instead, they offer a glimpse into the challenges and opportunities that exist for remote entrepreneurs as they navigate the complexities of the business world.
The Northern Territory Government's Business Innovation team are committed to partnering with Impact North to support these voices and working towards a more inclusive and understanding business environment that respects and uplifts Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander entrepreneurs.
