Darwin will become a hub for sustainable maritime innovation after being announced as the host of the first Asia-Pacific qualifier of the prestigious Monaco Energy Boat Challenge in 2027.

Bringing together university teams, engineers, researchers and industry leaders from across the region, the event will see next-generation clean energy vessels designed, built and raced on Darwin Harbour, showcasing the latest advances in sustainable marine technology.

Hosting the event reinforces the Territory's growing reputation as a destination for innovation and highlights Darwin's strategic position as a gateway to the Asia-Pacific. It also creates opportunities for collaboration between universities, industry and local innovators, helping to strengthen capability in clean energy, advanced manufacturing and marine technology.
