Summary

  • Switching on Darwin was funded by The Australian Government, Northern Territory (NT) Government and City of Darwin
  • Empowering businesses, governments, and people to make data-driven decisions for increasing prosperity and citizen wellbeing.
  • The City of Darwin Open Data Hub includes (but is not limited to) datasets on public wi-fi, parks and facilities, transportation, street food, administration, infrastructure, environmental and utilities.
  • The City of Darwin delivered educational sessions between October 2019 and March 2020 regarding the Switching on Darwin initiative.

Outcome

  • Meetings have been held with the City of Darwin ‘Smart Cities’ project representatives.
  • Information sessions were provided to business and industry in 2019 through the Business Innovation Network NT.
  • Hosted three Charles Darwin University Masters graduate students who assisted with undertaking a project to increase commercial applications of data held by NT Government to contribute to the platform.
  • In the early stages of Switching on Darwin, there was data being shared on the Civica Analytica platform between NT Government and the vendor.
