Inspiring students into innovation and STEM

You can't be what you can't see.

An important part of building a vibrant innovation ecosystem is to inspire our next generation of STEM-enabled entrepreneurial innovators. Recently, Ms Krissy Breed, Manager for Business Innovation from the Territory Government, teamed up with Dr Carla Eisemberg from Inspired NT to inspire grade five students from Good Shepherd Primary School into innovation and STEM career paths.

Ms Breed spoke to the class about the importance of different types of innovation and had students participate in an interactive game of 'Innovation Bingo', whereby students discussed ideas relatable to their age. For example: engaging functionality innovation by transforming a sneaker into a rollerblade by adding a wheel into the design.

Dr Eisemberg described her career in environmental science and how she commercialised her knowledge and research on turtles through selling educational publications. The students were then tasked with design project to create an educational book about their school’s suburb.

The Business Innovation unit is working on a number of events for young innovators, to ensure you are notified on news and upcoming events, subscribe to our newsletter.
