The 2023 Northern Territory Science Week Awards were held at the George Brown Botanic Gardens on 23 September by InspiredNT. These awards are a chance to recognise the champions who have been promoting science and technology in schools and communities and are celebrated for their amazing efforts and achievements towards STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) outreach.
Among the highlights of the night, we celebrated our 2023 NT Young Tall Poppies (Dr Mariana Campbell and Dr David Ompong) and the announcement of the Territory Wide Science Week SCOPE photomicrography competition winners. The winners were a primary school student from Alice Springs and two students from the Nawarddeken Academy in Western Arnhem Land.
The Awards are one of the many projects supported by the Inspiring Australia Science Engagement Program, which is funded by the Northern Territory Government and the Australian Government.
The awards categories are also supported by nine sponsors from the Territory STEM Industry, with Charles Darwin University and Power and Water Corporation being the two major sponsors.
