Over the past decade, there has been a consistent increase in the adoption and integration of renewable technologies across the Territory.

The Darwin-Katherine electricity system plan outlines a comprehensive pathway to 50% renewable energy by 2030. Additionally, the plan highlights that meeting the target will result in decreased energy costs saving Territorians $30 million per year by 2030.

The system plan focuses on six key areas to achieve the 50% renewable energy target:

  • solar
  • thermal generation
  • battery storage
  • security batteries to support system stability
  • new virtual power plants
  • demand management initiatives.

The system plan aims to maximise opportunities and attract new investments that deliver on the Territory’s renewable energy target. You can view the plan on the Territory Renewable Energy website.
